She has represented Singapore in many Athletics Competitions in Singapore and Overseas. She has received many accolades throughout her sports career.<\/p>\n<p>Glory was a member of Singapore\u2019s golden generation of track and field athletes that won numerous medals at the SEAP Games from 1965 to 1975. The 1973 SEAP Games was held in Singapore, and the Singapore track and field team did particularly well, winning six golds.<\/p>\n<p>She has remained active in competitive athletics, winning gold in the 200m at the 1987 World Masters Athletics Championships in Melbourne, Australia. In 2004 she switched from track to field, focusing on the long jump and the high jump. In 2013, she won the gold medal in the high jump and the silver medal in the long jump in the 70 \u2013 74 years old age group.<\/p>\n<p>Glory is the President of the Singapore Masters Athletics, which is the governing body for runners aged 35 and above.<\/p>\n<p>Her achievements are as follows<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At the 7th SEA Games in Singapore 1973(at the brand new national stadium) she beat the hot favourite Than Than from Myanma (Burma) in the 200 metres.<\/li>\n<li>She beat the defending Champion from Australia in the World Masters Athletics in Melbourne<\/li>\n<li>She won the gold in the 200 metres in 1987.<\/li>\n<li>In\u00a01965, she won a Silver Medal in 4 X 100 metres at the SEA Games in KL<\/li>\n<li>In 1967, she won 3 Bronze Medals in 100 metres, 200 metres and 4&#215;100 metres Relay held in Bangkok, Thailand.<\/li>\n<li>In 1969, she won 3 Silver Medals in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 4 x100 metres Relay in SEA Games in Rangoon, Burma<\/li>\n<li>In 1974, she won a Bronze Medal in 4 x100m Relay and a Silver in 4 x 400m Relay with a record timing of 3:43.85 minutes which stood for over 40 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Academically, she possess a Post Graduate Diploma and a further Diploma in Education (FPDE).[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;10em&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1658507093882{border-radius: 10px !important;}&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;20688&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1658848077130{margin-top: 100px !important;margin-left: 120px !important;}&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1658848121060{margin-top: 100px !important;margin-right: 120px !important;margin-bottom: 100px !important;margin-left: 120px !important;border-right-width: 10px !important;border-left-width: 10px !important;border-radius: 10px !important;}&#8221;] Glory Barnabas IHFS \u2013 C Kunalan Excellence Award For Sports Person &nbsp; Ms Glory Barnabas is currently President of Masters Athletics (Singapore).
