Ameerali Abdeali
IHFS – Excellence Award For Inter-Religious & Community Sevice
Ameerali Abdeali is a true Singaporean son of Indian heritage whose life’s work reflects an unwavering commitment to service, integrity, and compassion. A stalwart in public service and community development, he has devoted over four decades to the advancement of society—always guided by purpose, humility, and an inclusive spirit.
Abdeali served with distinction in the Ministry of Manpower for more
than 30 years, where he played a central role in strengthening Singapore’s frameworks for occupational safety and health. Through policy design, regulatory reform, and industry engagement, he helped shape a culture of prevention and care that continues to benefit thousands of workers across the nation. His influence in this field extends beyond his civil service career. As the Honorary President of the National Safety Council of Singapore, he remains an active and respected voice in championing workplace safety, sharing knowledge, and mentoring the next generation of safety advocates.
Equally remarkable is Abdeali’s commitment to uplifting vulnerable communities. As President of the Muslim Kidney Action Association (MKAC), he has steered the organisation through a period of meaningful growth, enabling it to serve not only kidney patients, but also low-income families, single mothers, and underserved individuals across all races and faiths. Under his leadership, MKAC’s programmes have expanded in both scope and impact—offering bursaries, healthcare support, family services, and educational outreach. His work exemplifies a model of compassionate, ground-up social leadership.
Abdeali is also a pillar of interfaith harmony in Singapore. He has served for over 30 years as a Council Member of the Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO), one of the world’s oldest interfaith groups. His steady presence and wise counsel have helped nurture understanding and trust among diverse religious communities. Whether speaking at official dialogues, offering prayers at national events, or quietly mediating behind the scenes, he has consistently embodied the values of mutual respect, peace, and social cohesion.
In recognition of his outstanding service to the nation and community, Abdeali has been conferred the Public Administration Medal (Bronze), the Public Service Medal, and appointed as a Justice of the Peace. These national honours affirm his reputation as a man of honour, empathy, and quiet strength.
Today, we also celebrate Abdeali as a proud representative of Singapore’s Indian Muslim community—a community he has served with humility and distinction, while always reaching beyond communal lines to build bridges and uplift others. His leadership reflects the best of our multicultural society: respectful, collaborative, and always guided by values.
For his lifetime of selfless service, visionary leadership, and unwavering dedication to the common good, he will be inducted into the Indian Hall of Fame Singapore.
