Rajakumar Chandra
IHFS – Excellence Award For Entrepreneurship
Rajakumar Chandra is the Chairman of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI). He is a Partner of Jothi Store & Flower Shop and a Director of Jothi Holdings Pte Ltd.
Jothi Store & Flower Shop is a well–known Singaporean Indian brand with a presence across the region, including South Asia. Founded in the early 1960s by Ramachandra Murugaia, who arrived in Singapore in 1948 at the age of 17, the business began as a small stall selling traditional Indian garlands, betel leaves and prayer items. Named after his first daughter, Jothi, the business has since grown into a thriving five–storey establishment in Campbell Lane. Rajakumar took over the business in 1986 and has since led its expansion into Malaysia while developing export markets around the world. Today, Jothi Store is a household name and a one–stop destination for both local shoppers and tourists seeking authentic Indian products.
Under Rajakumar’s leadership, the business has remained deeply committed to serving the community. Jothi Store has supported temple redevelopment projects, promoted the Tamil language in Singapore, and provided bursaries to needy students.
Beyond his business interests, Rajakumar has made significant contributions to Singapore’s community and heritage sectors. He played a pivotal role in the growth of the Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (LISHA) and currently serves as its Advisor. He is also a member of the Tamil Language Council, the Little India Task Force, and the National Heritage Board Awards Committee.
Within SICCI, Rajakumar has served in several leadership capacities. He was a Board Director and Vice–Chairman of SME Centre@SICCI for the 2022-2024 term, before being elected Vice Chairman of SICCI for the 2024-2026 term. Following the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting in June 2026, he was elected Chairman of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the 2026-2028 term.
